Excellence Award
The Academy of Finance is proud to announce the 3rd Annual Teaching
Excellence Award competition. This Award is designed to recognize
excellence in teaching, to encourage teachers to share experiences about
how they became great educators, and how they continue to improve their
skills. There will be a cash prize for the winner, with the sponsor
disclosed by Alex Faseruk, Chair of the “Teaching Excellence Award”
committee.
Anyone interested in competing for the Award must submit the
following items to Alex Faseruk by Monday, February 2, 2009, at
afaseruk@mun.ca.
1. A 1-page statement of teaching philosophy
2. A curriculum vita, condensed to no more than 4 pages
3. Supporting evidence of teaching excellence, not to exceed 5 pages
A Teaching Committee will review the applications and select the
finalists. These finalists will then make a presentation at a special
teaching session at the Academy of Finance meeting, in Chicago, March
18-20, 2009. The Teaching Committee will evaluate the presentations
along with the materials originally submitted and will select a winner.
The Award winner will be announced at the Thursday luncheon and will
receive a plaque from the Academy of Finance and a cash prize. The other
finalists will also receive recognition for their teaching excellence
from the Academy.
